Wedding Policies: Facilities, Personnel, Music

Facilities

  • New Song's sanctuary, community hall, and other public church rooms are available for weddings and marriage vow renewals during time periods other than when the congregation meets for public worship services. The seating capacity of the sanctuary is 250 people. A Bride's Room is available for wedding parties desiring the use of an on-site dressing room. A pitcher of water and drinking glasses will be available in the Bride's Room.
  • During special seasons of the church year, the sanctuary may be decorated for liturgical purposes. These seasonal decorations will not be removed for weddings scheduled during that season.
  • Each wedding will be allocated two hours for use of the church facilities, unless otherwise specified. All personal items in the Bride's Room and other areas of the church must be removed within a half an hour of the conclusion of the wedding ceremony. Any items left behind following the ceremony are not the responsibility of New Song Church.
  • The party booking the wedding is responsible for the safe return of all church items to New Song's premises and will be charged for lost or missing items. To assure this happens, a credit card imprint will be taken as a refundable security deposit. This imprint will be destroyed following the wedding when the facilities are determined to be free of damage or loss.
    • One week prior to the wedding, a request is due to the church office if any chairs or equipment are to be removed from the sanctuary prior to the ceremony. A charge of $100 will be added for any major changes in the room setup design of the sanctuary.
    • Following an on-site wedding or marriage vow renewal, couples may host their reception in the community room of New Song Church for an additional rental fee. This additional fee will cover the cost of renting the church facilities for up to three hours following the conclusion of the ceremony and include a janitorial fee for post-celebration clean-up.
    • All flash photography is prohibited during the wedding ceremony. Also, any photography (video or still) that intrudes into the solemnity of the wedding service is not allowed. After the ceremony, the officiating pastor is willing to pose any portion of the ceremony for pictures.
    • Smoking is prohibited inside and outside the church building. Alcoholic beverages may not be served, nor are they allowed on the church campus.
    • No helium balloons, rice, birdseed, or paper confetti may be used on the church campus. Silk flower petals and bubbles may be used with prior approval from the wedding coordinator.
    • All candles used during the wedding service shall be drip-less candles. All couples marrying at New Song are required to make this clear to any vendor providing candles or candelabras for use during the wedding ceremony. The party booking the wedding shall be responsible for any damages incurred by the church for candle-wax removal.

Personnel and Music

  • The pastors of New Song serve as officiates for all weddings and marriage vow renewals held on the church campus. They are also available, individually, to officiate at off-site weddings and marriage vow renewals, as well. On occasion, permission may be given by New Song's pastors for an alternate pastor to join them in officiating at weddings conducted on the church campus. Only pastors legally licensed to perform weddings in the state of Nevada are qualified to serve in this capacity at New Song Church. If a non-staff related pastor is approved to serve as the officiate, her/his Certificate of Permission to Perform Marriages from the office of Shirley B. Parraguirre, County Clerk of Clark County, Nevada, must be on file at New Song one week prior to the date of your wedding.
  • The music minister of New Song serves as the musical planner and pianist for all weddings held on the church campus. He will assist you in the selection of appropriate wedding music, arrange for soloists (if requested), and provide piano accompaniment for your wedding rehearsal and wedding. Because your wedding is a worship service, our Music Minister will exercise great care in assisting you in the selection of music that reflects the Christian tradition, both traditional and contemporary. His musical leadership will include 15 minutes of pre-service music and a 10-minute postlude as guests are leaving the sanctuary. If a church-associated soloist is desired, an additional fee of $125.00 will be charged for her/his musical leadership. The bride and groom are welcome to furnish their own soloist/s for the ceremony. All wedding music, including that sung by non-church associated soloists, must be approved by New Song's Music Minister.
  • Rehearsals are typically held the day or evening before the ceremony. All wedding rehearsals will begin at the scheduled time. It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to ensure that all members of the wedding party (bride, groom, maid/matron of honor, best man, attendants, flower girl, ring bearer, ushers, acolyte, and parents) are ON TIME for this rehearsal. The responsibilities of each member of the wedding party will be explained during the rehearsal. If any of the following items are being used in the wedding, they should be brought to the rehearsal: unity candle and tapers, unity sand, basket for the flower girl, pillow for the ring bearer, etc.
  • All photographers and videographers must complete the taking of pre-ceremony photos at least one half hour before the wedding ceremony. Upon arrival, all photographers must check in with the wedding coordinator. Proper etiquette by the photographer and videographer should be maintained throughout the ceremony. All wedding photographers and videographers must abide by the following dress code: no jeans, tennis shoes, bright-colored shirts or t-shirts with offensive language or gestures imprinted on them. Placement of the photographers or videographers' tripod must be approved by the wedding coordinator.
