Volunteer Opportunities

Robert Taylor School Needs Volunteers!

Want to make a difference with your life? You can change the world one person at a time by volunteering with the children who attend the Robert Taylor Elementary School in Henderson. This public school works with an "at-risk" population of students who come from families living at or near the poverty line. But, being "poor" isn't an indicator of potential! Robert Taylor students are great; they will steal your heart! Principal Dr. Janet Dobry, a member of our sister church, Christ the Servant-Henderson, is seeking volunteers who are willing to give an hour or more a week to read with kids, listen to them read to you, or help them with math. Most of the volunteers come to the school once a week for one hour. Volunteers select the day, time and grade level. The school understands that volunteers take vacations and sometimes have other scheduling conflicts. Discover the joy that Jane Calderon and Jim Eral have experienced in their lives as volunteers with Robert Taylor School students! To volunteer, contact Jessica Alanano at (702) 799-8950.

Habitat for Humanity Work Days

Habitat for Humanity-Las Vegas is presently constructing three new houses in northern Las Vegas with help from local volunteers. Join other volunteers from New Song Church the last Saturday morning of every month, at 6:30 AM, for several hours of home-building. Volunteers return home by 1:00 PM. Contact coordinators Sue or Mike Flynn at (702) 407-6767 for more information and to receive volunteer waiver forms. The work groups meet at New Song Church for the 6:30 AM departure. Give a hand to a deserving family in need!

National Make-A-Difference Day – Saturday, October 25th

Each year, New Song participates in the largest annual community service day in the United States! National Make-A-Difference Day began 17 years ago. Last year, our volunteers helped to build a Habitat for Humanity home, assisted in the clean-up of the City of Henderson's Pittman Wash, and prepared dinners for our Loaves to Share ministry that provides meals to New Song members returning home from hospitalization or rehabilitation. Sign up to participate in our 2008 National Make-A-Difference Day effort or contact coordinator, Mike Flynn at (702) 407-6767.

Mexico Mission Trip

Each summer for the past five years, New Song's high school youth and young adults have participated in a mission trip focused on building a home for a family in need living south of the border. The congregation partners with Amor Ministries, a non-profit organization that works around the world helping families living in poverty. For more information on how to participate in the Mexico Mission Trip, contact the church office at (702) 492-1771.
